Story

91 Mazda Miata disguised as a '74 MG Midget. It's got all the convenience/comfort like A/C, cruise control, power windows, remote engine starter, etc. One of the hardest fabrication part was installing Miata's bigger Front and Rear suspensions into a much smaller MG Midget body. There was a lot of cutting, manipulating and modifying to make everything fit nicely. Unlike a Midget with its original equipment, which tends to do better at a moderate speed below 45mph, this little car can cruise on a fast lane for hours without any problems. スイマセン。見た目は英国車のMGミジェットだけど、中身はマツダのNAロードスターなんです。ロードスターが登場するまでは、MGミジェットが価格の安いライトウェイト・スポーツカーの代表格のひとつだったそうです。 ミジェットの基本設計は1958年と古く、段差で跳ねやすいリジット/リーフスプリング・サスペンションを改善したくて、前後ともダブルウィッシュボーンにDIYで改造。 ボディが小さいMGに大きいサスペンションなどを組み込むのはパズルのように難しく、楽しめました。 ロードスターと比べるとエンジン位置は40cm後方に移動し、車検証のデータも後軸が重いリアヘビーに。 回頭性が良くてタイトカーブが楽しく、高速道路もラクに走れるオープンカーのかたちをしたゴーカートみたいなクルマに仕上がりました。 1/1サイズのプラモデル感覚で、クーラー、クルーズ・コントロール、パワーウィンドウ、リモートスターター、シートヒーターなども装備。 山梨で毎日の足として使っています。マフラー爆発で中断しているカスタムECUにも再トライ予定。
